Activities

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KECamps are exactly alike!  Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”.   The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

For more information on the golf and tennis lessons at camp, please click here.

Tennis: 2 recreational group lessons each week
Swimming: recreational swim time in the club’s pool each day

Wacky Wednesdays

Every Wednesday at camp is a wacky one with a different festive theme – a true highlight of each week! Check out this summer’s Wacky Wednesday Calendar!

Thankful Thursdays

We are excited to announce the return of Thankful Thursdays into our camp program! In true camp spirit, every Thursday campers will have the chance to give back to their community by working together on a simple, fun and rewarding community service project. Check out this summer’s Thankful Thursday Calendar!

Lunch & Snacks

A kid-friendly lunch will be provided by the club daily. If you prefer to pack your own lunch for your child, please do so in a cooler or backpack.

A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.

Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp.   We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts.   Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts.   If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Packing List

KECamps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Extra Snacks (Optional)
Flotation Vest: If you know that your child will be classified as a Bogey (our term for Non-Swimmer) this summer or you prefer your child to be classified this way, please pack a flotation vest for use in the Shallow End of the pool.

Payments, Cancellations, Refunds

Registration & Payments

Registration for Summer 2019 is open and will continue until we are full.  So, you may add additional weeks as the summer goes on. You must be enrolled in advance, however, in order to attend camp. We are happy to accept online registrations up until the night before the start of each week of camp, provided that space is available.

Full payment is due upon registration. This includes a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $40 which includes 2 camp t-shirts. We accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.

If your child has special needs or will require extra assistance while at camp, please contact us before you enroll to discuss!

Cancellations & Refunds

All requests for cancellations or changes must be made in writing to our office via email at info@kecamps.com. Cancellations made by June 9, 2019 will be refunded in full (less the registration fee).  After that, there are no refunds. We will, however, always offer a credit towards a future week (if space is available) or for next summer.

Meet Your Camp Director

Dear Campers and Families,

On behalf of KE Camps, welcome to Camp Sonterra! Summer is just around the corner, and preparations are underway as the staff and I are planning an amazing camp experience for each and every one of you. My name is Alex Nicoll, and I am the Camp Director for the 2019 season. I have such great memories of my own time as a camper growing up in Virginia, and your counselors and I are looking forward to helping you create your own memorable experiences this summer.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, I spent many summers as a child and teenager at Camp Virginia in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains as both a camper and a counselor. A few years later, I also had the privilege of working for two summers at Camp Wayfarer in the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. After graduating from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, I moved to Mexico where I began my teaching career. I have spent my entire professional career in education, where I have taught elementary, middle, and high school across two cultures. I also served as a middle school head for four years. I am excited to start a new chapter of my teaching career this fall at St. Mary’s Hall here in San Antonio as an elementary Spanish teacher.

Working with kids is such a rewarding and dynamic experience. No two days are ever the same, and every day is an opportunity to help them to discover something new about themselves, each other, and the world around them. Summer camp is the ideal setting to continue fun and engaging lifelong learning outside of the home and the classroom.

I am very excited that two of my own sons will be attending Camp Sonterra. My family and I recently moved to San Antonio, and this will be our first full summer here in the city. As a family, we are happiest outdoors and love hiking and camping. We also enjoy movie and game nights together, as well as traveling back to Virginia and North Carolina to visit friends and family.

I am looking forward to the start of camp, and I can’t wait to meet each of you.

Warmly,
Alex Nicoll
