Activities

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike!  Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”.   The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Meet Your Camp Director

Hello Campers and Families,

My name is Abby Wynkoop and I am the new director of KE Camps at Silver Lake Country Club. I can’t wait to spend my summer with you and have fun! I moved to the Ohio area from New Jersey to pursue my degree in Education. Back in New Jersey, I was able to gain experience and skills working various summer camps as a camp counselor, as well as being the playground supervisor for the town I grew up in. Along with the skills I was able to gain during these experiences, I have been able to further them here in Ohio during my time working at the Kent State Child Development Center.

I graduated in December, as an Early Childhood Education graduate, from Kent State University. As a teacher, one thing I am most passionate about is allowing children to lead in discovery. I believe children learn best and have the most fun when it is engaging and is something they are passionate about. I have been able to implement this through my time with the Kent State Child Development Center, bringing hands-on activities into the classroom, while also allowing children to explore nature and everything it has to offer. Being able to provide this experience to the campers this summer has me beyond excited for what is in store! I love working with kids because I learn just as much from them as they learn from me! I feel that we are able to work together to accomplish so many amazing experiences, thoughts, and memories together. Each day is a new adventure.

In addition to working with and educating the youth, I am passionate about being active (especially outdoors). My pup, Sophie, and I enjoy finding new trails and places to explore in nature. A goal on my bucket list is to visit every National Park. Sophie and I have visited Cuyahoga Valley National Park a multitude of times and cannot wait to get to explore others that we have not yet checked off!

I hope you are excited as I am for camp this summer. It’s going to be a great one!

Sincerely,
Abby Wynkoop
