The Sponsoring Member will not be charged in association with Rockaway River Day Camp in any way, however, he or she must be aware that you are listing him or her as your Sponsor. This policy allows Rockaway River Country Club to ensure that all Non-Members attending camp are associated with a Club Member in some way.

Age Range: 5 - 11

All campers must be at least 5 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.

Activities

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike!  Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”.  The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

For more information on the golf and tennis lessons at camp, please click here.

Tennis: 2 recreational group lessons each week
Swimming: recreational swim time in the club’s pool each day

Wacky Wednesdays

Every Wednesday at camp is a wacky one with a different festive theme – a true highlight of each week! Check out this summer’s Wacky Wednesday Calendar!

Thankful Thursdays

We are excited to announce the return of Thankful Thursdays into our camp program! In true camp spirit, every Thursday campers will have the chance to give back to their community by working together on a simple, fun and rewarding community service project. Check out this summer’s Thankful Thursday Calendar!

Lunch & Snacks

The club will provide a delicious and kid-friendly lunch for every camper each day. If you would prefer to pack your own lunch for your child, please do so in a cooler or backpack. A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.

Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp.   We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts.   Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts.   If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Packing List

KE Camps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Be sure to read this manual for important and specific details about camp.

Download this health form, print, complete and fax or email back to us as soon as you can and definitely before camp begins. You may also log back in to the registration site after you have enrolled your child to upload the paperwork there. We will ask for some medical information about your child during the online registration process. In addition, NJ state law requires that this supplement be on file for every camper. We thank you for your cooperation in getting this form to us in a timely manner.

Should your child require any medication during the camp day (including an Epi-Pen or Inhaler), we ask that you complete this form and send it directly to our office or hand it to your Camp Director on your child’s first day of camp.

Meet Your Camp Director

Greeting KE Campers and Families!

My name is Susan Pereira, and I am the new director at the beautiful Rockaway River Country Club. I am honored to serve the families of my community in this role. My camping career started while in college as a lifeguard, swimming and small craft instructor for the Girl Scouts in Indiana. I fell in love with the opportunity to help campers grow in confidence, relationships, skills, and independence. I was hooked! I went on to work three summers at the camp in various roles (along with some non-summer camp outs), and changed my major in college. After graduating with a B.S. degree in Outdoor Recreation and Recreation Management from Indiana State University, I did my internship and then joined the year-round team at YMCA Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana. I grew into many positions throughout my career and when I finally had to say goodbye after 22 years, as Associate Executive Director, it was bittersweet. I was sad to leave, but excited to see what the next team of leaders would provide for future campers and staff.

My husband and I moved to Rockaway, NJ and started a business. I then worked in the corporate field for eight years, and now I am so excited to be back in camping! Working and living at camp, I never learned to cook, so now I enjoy trying new recipes...but still need learn how to use spices. I love scrap-booking, basket-making, and other crafty things. I have hiked in the Grand Canyon, taken a cruise and explored in Alaska, and visited many states, Canada, and Mexico. My husband, Victor, and I love to travel, especially to visit family in Portugal! Our plan for the future is to explore this amazing country full-time in an RV. The outdoors is my favorite place and can't wait to explore it!

I love working with children, especially in the camp setting. It is an amazing responsibility and honor. To care for, guide, teach, and learn from the 'future world and community leaders'. To play a role in helping them to learn about themselves...what they are capable of, building their self-esteem and skills, in the safe and caring environment of day camp. Thank you for trusting me and the team of counselors this summer!

See you at "The Rock"!
Susan Pereira
