If you are not a Club Member of James River Country Club, you must be “Sponsored” by a Club Member in order to register your child for camp. The Sponsoring Member will not be charged in association with James River Day Camp in any way, however, he or she must be aware that you are listing him or her as your Sponsor. This policy allows the club to ensure that all Non-Members attending camp are associated with a Club Member in some way.
Age Range: 4 - 10
All campers must be at least 4 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.
Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike! Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”. The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Lunch & Snacks
You have the option to purchase a kid-friendly lunch provided by the club for $25 per week. If you would like to purchase this option, you may do so during online enrollment. Otherwise, you are welcome to pack a lunch for your child.
A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.
Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp. We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts. Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts. If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
KE Camps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Registration & Payments
Registration for Summer 2021 is open and will continue until we are full. You must be enrolled in advance, however, in order to attend camp. We are happy to accept online registrations up until the night before the start of each week of camp, provided that space is available.
Full payment is due upon registration. This includes a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $40 which includes 2 camp t-shirts. We accept ACH Payments and American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.
If your child has special needs or will require extra assistance while at camp, please contact us before you enroll to discuss!
Cancellations & Refunds
All requests for cancellations or changes must be made in writing to our office via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cancellations made by July 11, 2021 will be refunded in full (less the registration fee). After that, there are no refunds. We will, however, always offer a credit towards a future week (if space is available) or for next summer.
Covid-19 Safety Policy
As we enter into Summer 2021, we are fully prepared to take on the challenging circumstances surrounding Covid-19 - we did it in Summer 2020 and we can do it again! The health and safety of all campers, families, and staff members continues to be our absolute top priority. As we are all well-aware, protocols and guidelines surrounding Covid-19 are fluid and as such, we will adapt and adjust our policies, as needed, leading up to and during the camp season.
We encourage you to enroll early as spaces will be limited this summer and we expect that camp will fill up quickly! We are sure you agree that a summer spent at camp will be more needed and meaningful than ever this year.

Meet Your Camp Director
Greetings Campers and Families!
My name is Lauren Hancock, and I am so excited to work and have so much fun with you this summer! This is my third year as the Director of James River Day Camp, and my fourth year with KE Camps! During my first year with KE Camps, I got to work out in Napa, CA at Napa Valley Country Club as a counselor, and I have had a phenomenal experience working with the campers and families at James River Country Club for the past two years.
I love working with kids of all ages. My passion began even before graduating high school, when I was a volunteer coach for the swim team that I swam on. I also worked as a day camp counselor at a summer camp throughout my college experience. I am a graduate of James Madison University, where I got my degree in Elementary Education.
I am currently in my eighth year of teaching fourth grade at Nelson Elementary School in Newport News. My favorite subject to teach is math and I love being able to incorporate STEM activities into my classroom. I have also worked hard in this strange year on engaging students with technology! When I am not teaching, I coach a problem-solving team called Odyssey of the Mind. I also love doing crafts, watching movies, going to the beach, and hanging out with my dog and cat!
Some of my favorite memories from my last few summers were our Wacky Wednesdays when we got to dress for our theme of the week. Some of our favorite games to play as a camp are capture the flag and soccer, and I hope to incorporate and learn new games this summer! Another favorite activity of mine is Thankful Thursdays, because we all get together and make things for a cause to help our community.
I am SO excited to see what this new summer brings at James River Country Club! We had a blast, even among the challenges that 2020 brought! I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and hope to meet many new ones as well!
