All campers must be at least 4 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.
Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike! Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”. The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Lunch & Snacks
The club will provide a kid-friendly lunch and snack to all campers daily.
Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp. We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts. If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
KE Camps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack

Meet Your Camp Director
Dear Campers and Families,
My name is Allison Backer, and I am the new GRCC Day Camp director! I am so excited to get to know you. We are going to have a BLAST!
I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013 with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and graduated from Binghamton University in 2017 with a M.S. in Educational Studies. For the past 7 years, I’ve been a classroom teacher for pre-k, 3rd grade, and kindergarten. This year was my third year teaching kindergarten in Newark, New Jersey!
To me, the best thing about teaching is when a child has an “a-HA!” moment—the moment where they understand a concept, try it on their own, and explore new and different ways of doing something. I see this is in the classroom all the time, but the truth is, learning happens every single day. In the spring and fall, I coach Girls on the Run in Montclair, and the transformation from the beginning of the season to the end is incredible. The girls try new things, take new risks, and make new friends at every practice. When I was a camp counselor in college, I loved sharing those moments with my campers. It was amazing to see shy, timid campers blossom in to capable, confident adventurers. I am excited to cultivate these experiences at camp! Kids are natural-born explorers. They want to know how things work and why things happen. They are curious, adventurous, and courageous. My favorite thing about working with kids is their openness to new experiences and their willingness to try hard—things that even adults can re-learn to do every once in a while. The best way to work with kids is to “get in the mess”, to show kids that you are ready to be open, curious, and brave. This summer, I am so excited to join our campers on this journey. I am excited to learn new skills, try new ways to problemsolve, and make new friends!
When I’m not teaching or coaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I’m a born-and-raised Jersey girl, and most of my family lives here, too! We especially love spending time together down the shore. I love watching baseball (Go Yankees!), reading, baking, and going to concerts. I also love running--I have completed 10 half marathons and 4 full marathons!
I’m counting down the days until summer is here and camp begins! I can’t wait to get to know you all.
