Club Registration Requirements
If you are not a Club Member of Detroit Yacht Club, you must be “Sponsored” by a Club Member in order to register your child for camp. The Sponsoring Member will not be charged in association with Camp DYC in any way, however, he or she must be aware that you are listing him or her as your Sponsor. This policy allows Detroit Yacht Club to ensure that all Non-Members attending camp are associated with a Club Member in some way.
Age Range: 4 - 10
All campers must be at least 4 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.
Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KECamps are exactly alike! Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”. The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Lunch & Snacks
A kid-friendly lunch will be provided by the club daily for all campers. If you would prefer to pack your own lunch for your child, please do so in a cooler or backpack.
A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.
Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp. We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts. Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts. If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
KECamps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Meet Your Camp Director
Welcome Campers, Families, and Friends!
My name is Lisa Melinn, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as this summer’s Camp Director for KE Camps at the beautiful Detroit Yacht Club! I am so excited when I count down the days on my calendar, seeing just how soon our KE Camps experience is happening. I am so excited to get to know you…to play epic games until our stomachs hurt from laughing so hard…to watch each other form new friendships…and to experience new things together that will open our minds and our hearts!
A little bit about me: I currently work on the faculty of The Department of Performing Arts as an acting and improvisation instructor for Oakland Community College. I also work to serve the Wayne/Westland School District as a drama instructor for their fabulous Bright Futures after school program. I have been working as a teacher, friend, and mentor to children (in a crazy variety of roles) for the last 20-odd years. Simply put, I am at my best when I am guiding, teaching, and learning from children of all ages; I am thrilled that through KE Camps, I will get to continue this journey.
I have been involved in acting and theatre since the age of five, and was lucky to study Drama at Syracuse University’s Professional Actor Training School in Syracuse, New York. Working the odd acting job (maybe you saw me in that one quirky pizza commercial?), watching cute kitten videos with Zuzu, my black cat who thinks she’s a human, laughing at myself and how silly I can be: these are some of my favorite times to be ME. I can’t wait to find out what you love about being YOU.
What can we look forward to about our KE Camps experience? Fun, laughter, new games and activities (I can’t wait to teach you some of my favorite acting games!), getting messy making art and exploring nature, learning from our counselors and fellow campers, and celebrating every day the fun, wacky, crazy, cool life we are living by never wasting a moment. I promise to do my best to provide as many “Wow!” moments as I possibly can…all I ask in return is that you arrive with an open mind, ready to try new things. I cannot wait to meet you all. Summer 2019 is going to be fantastic!
