Activities

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KECamps are exactly alike!  Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”.   The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Wacky Wednesdays

Every Wednesday at camp is a wacky one with a different festive theme – a true highlight of each week! Check out this summer’s Wacky Wednesday Calendar!

Thankful Thursdays

We are excited to announce the return of Thankful Thursdays into our camp program! In true camp spirit, every Thursday campers will have the chance to give back to their community by working together on a simple, fun and rewarding community service project. Check out this summer’s Thankful Thursday Calendar!

Lunch & Snacks

The club will provide a delicious and kid-friendly lunch for every camper each day. If you would prefer to pack your own lunch for your child, please do so in a cooler or backpack. A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.

Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp.   We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts.   Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts.   If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Packing List

KECamps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Extra Snacks (Optional)

Meet Your Camp Director

Dear Campers and Families,

Summer camp is almost here! I am so excited to meet each and every one of you! I am looking forward to learning about you, but until then here's a little bit about me.

I am originally from Upstate New York and moved to the Northern Virginia area in 2014 to work in Arlington Public Schools. I taught in Arlington for two years and then decided to move to Florida to be closer to family. I taught there for another two years and moved back to the Northern Virginia area in 2017. I now call Fairfax County my permanent home! I loved being closer to family in Florida, but I am happier teaching here in Virginia.

I am a special education teacher in Fairfax County Schools and love this district! I have been in the teaching field for 9 years, and the upcoming school year will be my 6th year of full-time teaching; I have loved each and every year. By far the number one thing that makes teaching so fun is the children! They are so inquisitive and fun to be around! While I have also taught in general education, I always seem to find a way back to my roots in special education. I obtained my bachelor's degree in New York State in Childhood, Special, and Early Childhood Education. In addition, I obtained my master's in New York State in Literacy Education.

What is your favorite season? Summer is mine! I love the sunny, warm weather and the many hours being active outside in the fresh air. Most of my summers are spent teaching summer school or working at camp. However, when I am not working, I like to take my puppy to the dog park, explore D.C., read outside, go swimming or take evening walks with my husband when the sun is setting.

I can't wait until camp and am looking forward to meeting you soon! I am also excited for Wacky Wednesdays, Thankful Thursdays, working with new and incredible children, learning new things, staying active outside and creating unforgettable memories! See you soon!

Sincerely,
Chelsea Garcia
