All campers must be at least 5 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.
Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KECamps are exactly alike! Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”. The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Meet Your Camp Director
Hello Beech Mountain Club Families!
My name is Calvin Cole, and I will be the director for Beech Mountain Club’s summer camp this year. I am thrilled to be in this position and to set the stage for a memorable and fun summer!
I am currently an exceptional children's teacher with Watauga County Schools. I began working in the school setting in 2009. After about 4 years as an assistant and with a desire to become a classroom teacher, I moved to Boone and completed my Special Education degree through Appalachian State University. This past year I found my way back to the high country and now teach at two nearby elementary schools. I have spent the last 4 summers working either as a counselor or consultant (sometimes a little of both!) with Camp Lakey Gap in Black Mountain, NC. This enriching experience taught me all about camp life and gave me valuable knowledge that I look forward to applying to camp this summer.
As a resident of Beech Mountain, I love being outdoors and experiencing all of the surrounding natural beauty through hiking, mountain biking, playing disc golf, fishing, and snowboarding in the winter. My friends and I love to take our dog pack out on adventures through the woods whenever we get a chance. I am proud to be a part of the Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, joining the department shortly after moving to the mountain last summer.
I love working with youth for many reasons, not just because of the hilarious comments I hear each day. Children have great curiosity that leads to discovery of knowledge, either academic or just learning about the world. Being able to help guide this curiosity into learning is a rewarding feeling. Being able to bring laughs and smiles to every child is a goal that I have every day!
Camp is right around the corner! I am eager to get the ball rolling on all the activities and fun that we will be taking place at camp. I am so excited for the summer to begin and I look forward to meeting you soon!
